So a little while ago I decided to try and teach myself how to play the guitar. I started with some basic notes and learned how to play two lines of Ode To Joy, but then I didn’t touch it for a while, cause it seemed too hard. I’d done piano lessons for several years but that seemed so much easier, all you have to do to get the right sound is hit the right key. Of course coordination and speed are very important when it comes to more complicated pieces, but compared to having to hold down various steel stings with your fingers, with the pressure in just the right place so they don’t buzz, piano seems pretty simple. However, as the guitar is an instrument that I’ve always wanted to play, I decided to give it another go, and after finding some basic chords for a few songs I like, I actually started to get the hang of it. I still have heaps (and heaps) to learn, but I was finally able to make up my first song on the guitar.
It’s a work in progress, at the moment called Forever, and while the lyrics need a bit of work, I’m pretty happy with how it’s turning out. As you can see from the video, I spend most of my time focused on my finger positions, but hopefully, with time (and a lot of practice), my confidence will grow and it will get a lot easier. Hope you like it 🙂
That song sounds incredible, awesome job Andrew! It’s basic and all, but it sounded really catchy: your vocals sounded great as well! 😀
